HUGE INCREASE IN CAVITY WALL INSULATION PROBLEMS

We have seen a large increase in the requirement for reports on problems with cavity wall insulation in the last six months and have undertaken over fifty in that timescale.

We have seen contractors that have installed cavity wall insulation, often under a subsidised scheme, which has either been done poorly or contrary to building regulations and in some cases to properties that are totally unsuitable. This has led to problems internally with black mould and dampness.

The insulation has become wet due to either the location of the properties or the condition of the walls and wet insulation is worse than no insulation at all. Any perceived benefits have therefore not only been lost but these are causing problems to the fabric.

We have carried out a lot of research into these issues and are well placed to advise on the suitability of properties that received cavity wall insulation.

If you feel your property is suffering from issues which may be attributable to poor or incorrect installation, please contact us for further advice.
