Surveying Practice raising money for local charity

One of our surveyors is entering the 2015 Cape Town Cycle Tour in an effort to raise money for a Plymouth based Prostate Cancer Charity called the Chestnut Appeal. The event takes place on 8th March and is the largest timed cycle race in the world.

Darren said “This charity does excellent work in achieving better patient outcomes, supporting people with prostate cancer and making the public aware of the need to talk about it.”

Darren is entering the event with two friends, one of whom has recently recovered from Protate Cancer, and Darren's family has also been touched by the cancer.

Surveyor on Prime Time Television

We were called last year by ITV as Jeremy Kyles new show, The Kyle Files, required the services of a Chartered Building Surveyor.

John spent a few hours filming with the crew, assisting a couple who had a poor experience with a timber frame building. The show can be seen here -

Attention Buy-to-Let Landlords

The Energy Act 2011 contains prospective legislation relating to energy efficiency in buildings which threatens to have a major impact on the property market.

The Act provides that, from April 2018 at the latest, it will be unlawful to rent out residential or business premises which do not reach a minimum energy efficiency standard. Although the detailed regulations have not yet been issued, the Government has already indicated that the lowest acceptable energy rating is likely to be E. This means that landlords of F- and G-rated buildings will be unable to let them out after April 2018 unless they take active steps to improve the energy efficiency of those buildings.

As main shirt sponsors for the Ivybridge U12s, we are pleased to report that the boys have won the premier South West competition for that age group – The Landrover Cup. This is a competition supported by all the Premiership Rugby Teams, with Exeter Chiefs playing host to under 12’s from across the South West.

For their efforts the boys have won tickets to the 2015 Premiership Final at Twickenham and will parade around the ground at half time.
